Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 is now underway on Disney+, but when will the next episode release on the streaming service? It’s been a long and arduous journey getting Clone Wars back onto the small screen. First beginning almost two decades ago with the traditional animated Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network, which was later followed up with an animated film and CGI animated series in 2008 (the one now continuing on Disney+), Clone Wars has gone through several hoops to get where it is now.
Clone Wars season 7 is the final season in the fan-favorite animated series, and it is meant to lead directly into (and even exist alongside) the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. It was originally announced two years ago, but getting it through production has taken some time. Even though it wasn’t the first Star Wars TV show on Disney+ - an honor that belongs to The Mandalorian, which is also the first live-action Star Wars TV series ever - Clone Wars season 7 is a gift to longtime fans who’ve waited years to see the show conclude properly.
And now, Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7, episode 1, “The Bad Batch” is out on Disney+, having released on February 21, 2020. But despite coming out on a streaming service, Clone Wars season 7 episodes will continue to release weekly, just like The Mandalorian did. That means the next episode, “A Distant Echo”, will release on Friday, February 28, 2020 - and all future episodes will come out on Fridays after that. Here’s the full (and current) Clone Wars season 7 release schedule:
- February 21 - “The Bad Batch” February 28 - “A Distant Echo” March 6 - “On The Wings Of Keeradaks” March 13 - “Unfinished Business” March 20 - “Gone With A Trace” March 27 - “Deal No Deal” April 3 - Clone Wars season 7, episode 7 April 10 - Clone Wars season 7, episode 8 April 17 - Clone Wars season 7, episode 9 April 24 - Clone Wars season 7, episode 10 May 1 - Clone Wars season 7, episode 11 May 8 - Clone Wars season 7, episode 12
At the moment, only the first six episodes of Clone Wars season 7 have official titles. Disney+ isn’t in the habit of announcing projects too far in advance yet, so only movies and shows coming out through the following month - in this case, March - are fully known. However, that doesn’t mean fans don’t already know what to expect from the final season. In addition to solving the mystery behind Echo being alive and exploring more of who the Bad Batch are, Clone Wars season 7 will feature the highly anticipated Siege of Mandalore, which will also include a duel between Ashoka and Darth Maul.
Hailed as being the final season, Clone Wars season 7 only has 12 episodes, and as long as the series maintains its one episode-per-week release schedule, it should conclude on May 8. Of course, if Disney+ suddenly decides to take a hiatus and wrap up Clone Wars sometime later in the year, that could also happen, but it’s unlikely at this stage. For now, the above release schedule is the one to follow.
